Lysimachos Zografos

In a nutshell

My name is Lysimachos Zografos and I’m a PhD candidate at the University of Edinburgh’s School of Informatics. I’m also the staff scientist   for Brainwave-Discovery Ltd.

My research focuses on the protein interaction networks of complex molecular machines of the synapse. I try to combine bioinformatics, network science, molecular biology and behavioural analysis in my approach towards understanding these complexes. I have worked with what is known as the postsynaptic density (PSD) in mouse and fruit flies. Although I’m interested in the theoretical aspects of these networks, I always try to keep a perspective that involves elucidating the mechanisms of cognition and the evolution as well as the mechanisms of mental disease (and how these can be targeted)
